Acupuncture for facial rejuvenation
Sometimes described as ‘acupuncture for facial rejuvenation’ or simply ‘facial rejuvenation’, this is a specialist field of acupuncture (and by default, part of the therapies of Traditional Chinese Medicine - TCM) that focuses specifically on cosmetic aspects of the person offering a non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the ageing process with the added benefit of improving general health and well being at the same time.
This is therefore fundamentally different from other cosmetic treatments, because acupuncture treats holistically - not only treating the signs of aging on your face, but also providing a rejuvenation of your general health.
A full cosmetic acupuncture treatment involves different aspects of TCM like acupuncture, tuina massage, Chinese herbal medicine and dietary therapy.
Being part of TCM means that you can avail of the safety of its efficacy and solid foundations of thousands of years - also, it is always important to remember that being a comprehensive medical system, when you choose to take a cosmetic acupuncture treatment you will be diagnosed according to the principles of TCM.
This means that cosmetic acupuncture for facial rejuvenation can offer you a safe and effective alternative to botox, collagen injections or even cosmetic surgery at a fraction of the price of those procedures.
History of facial rejuvenation acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture has been practiced in China for centuries - early records date back to the Qin and the Song Dynasties. In those days, cosmetic acupuncture was the best beauty treatment available to the Empress and to the Emperor’s Concubines - the most powerful and wealthy women of that time.
With the exposure of TCM to the western world, cosmetic acupuncture has become widely available and is now practiced in many countries around the world by practitioners qualified in TCM Cosmetology.
Benefits of cosmetic acupuncture:
- Improves muscle tone and dermal contraction
- Helps to reduce and/or eliminate bags under the eyes
- Decreases the tendency towards sagging and jowls
- Increases collagen production and has an effect on its dispersal
- Helps to eliminate puffiness by improving the metabolism, and thus eliminating excess fluids
- Helps to eliminate fine lines of the face and has a diminishing effect on larger and/or deeper wrinkles
- Improves hormonal balance; thus, even those with ‘hormonal acne’ can benefit from this treatment
- Moisturises the skin by increasing local circulation of blood & lymph to the face
- Improves facial colour by increasing peripheral circulation
- Reduces or eliminates double chin
- Tightens the pores
- Brightens the eyes
- Helps to lift drooping eyelids
- Reduces stress evident in the face
- Promotes overall health and wellbeing
- Slows the ageing process - from within
- Brings out a person’s innate beauty and radiance
- Benefits the eyes, ears, sinuses, thyroid, and brain
Why choose acupuncture for facial rejuvenation over cosmetic surgery?
While this treatment is not claiming to be a replacement for surgery, cosmetic acupuncture for facial rejuvenation is an excellent alternative to surgery itself for a number of reasons:
- It is far less costly than cosmetic surgery;
- In the hands of a fully qualified TCM practitioner, it is completely safe;
- It is virtually painless and has no side effects or risk of disfigurement;
- There is no trauma from facial rejuvenation acupuncture – sometimes, cosmetic surgery may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discolouration;
While cosmetic acupuncture cannot reshape one’s chin or nose, it is a more subtle rejuvenation that takes years off ones’ face in a safe and natural way whilst simultaneously improving your overall health – remember: “Beauty comes from within” so the healthier you gradually get as your treatments progress, the better you feel and consequently the better you will look too.
How many treatments does it take to notice the improvement?
At the end of the first treatment, most people start to notice the improvement on their facial complexion – the firmness of the skin, the improvement on the muscle tone and the brightness of the eyes.
Obviously, results depend on the individual condition of the person – sometimes, it might take a few treatments before results start to be more noticeable.
To achieve visible and long lasting results, it is recommended that you take on the full cosmetic acupuncture treatment package, which is comprised of 12 weekly sessions. The treatment is offered as a package at a special price or as individual sessions at a normal rate.

Please remember that different individuals will react differently to the treatments and the results also vary from person to person – after the 12 weekly sessions you can get lasting results for about 3 to 4 years.
After you finish the treatment, we strongly recommend that you take on the advice of your TCM practitioner and pay special attention to simple things like: lifestyle (smoking, drinking, etc), diet, sleep, reduce makeup, exercise/massage your face regularly – and if convenient to you, do 1 or 2 individual sessions per year to keep the good results lasting for even longer.
There’s a special package of treatment sessions designed for people with no major health problems and that are just noticing fine lines and minor issues appearing, and/or for people that are looking to enhance their skin’s appearance for special events (e.g. weddings, public appearances, etc).
